Instructions for Applicants

General

The program offers research training for doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars. To gain full benefit from the program students need a strong background either in demography or in a closely related discipline. Moreover, students should also be working on a clearly articulated research project in order to get the most from the research supervision available within the program. When selecting students for the program, preference will be given to those whose research fits closely with the research interests of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. Funding is available to support student participation. This can take the form of either partial or full support, depending on the level of support a student is already receiving. The financial resources available within the program are limited, and students are encouraged to seek support from their home institutions and other sources.

Application for the IDEM Winter Program 2015/16

The International Advanced Studies in Demography (IDEM) program invites applications for the upcoming IDEM winter semester 2015/16 at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock, Germany. Courses will be held from late October 2015 to the end of January 2016. Courses will run sequentially, not concurrently, to allow participants to focus on one topic at a time. Candidates may apply for one or several courses. Please note that the application instructions and deadlines differ for the various courses offered. That is, candidates must apply for each course separately. Please see the course descriptions for more information about the courses and application instructions.

Financial Support

There is no tuition fee for the winter semester 2015/16 courses. Students are expected to pay their own transportation and living costs. However, a limited number of scholarships are available on a competitive basis for outstanding candidates and for those applicants who might otherwise not be able to come.

What you need to send
