This area of the website contains information on how you can further your education or conduct research as a demographer at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR), or through one of the educational and scientific projects in which the Institute participates.

There is also a brief introduction into demography and selected articles for the public, which provide highlights of MPIDR research and explain its meaning for society and politics. This area is divided into the following sections, which can be found in the main navigation menu:

  • Jobs & Fellowships
    Announcements of open positions in research and research support at the MPIDR.
  • MaxNetAging Research School
    Interdisciplinary funding program including a six-month initial training period for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers in collaboration with various Max Planck Institutes that conduct research on aging.
  • International Advanced Studies in Demography
    A training program for doctoral students and post-docs. The curriculum includes courses on demographic change, aging, fertility, biological demography and other issues of population research.
  • European Doctoral School of Demography
    An 11-month program open to students with a master's degree, and who are enrolled in the first year of a European PhD program.
  • Demo-Doc
    A multinational PhD program of the MPIDR and European partner universities intended to provide doctoral students from these universities with comprehensive research training in demography and research supervision in their research areas.
