Instructions for Applicants
The program offers research training for doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars. To gain full benefit from the program students need a strong background either in demography or in a closely related discipline. Moreover, students should also be working on a clearly articulated research project in order to get the most from the research supervision available within the program. When selecting students for the program, preference will be given to those whose research fits closely with the research interests of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. Funding is available to support student participation. This can take the form of either partial or full support, depending on the level of support a student is already receiving. The financial resources available within the program are limited, and students are encouraged to seek support from their home institutions and other sources.

There is no tuition fee for the winter semester 2015/16 courses. Students are expected to pay their own transportation and living costs. However, a limited number of scholarships are available on a competitive basis for outstanding candidates and for those applicants who might otherwise not be able to come.
