From the direction of Hamburg, Lübeck, Wismar
From the A20, take the Rostock-West exit, continuing on the B103. Turn right at the Schutow intersection (Schutower Kreuz) and continue along Hamburger Straße to the city center (Zentrum). At Holbeinplatz, take the road under the train bridge. Stay on the main road (Lübecker Straße), passing the next three traffic lights. Continue straight on until you see the Institute’s building and a sailors' memorial on the left. As there is no direct access to the Institute, stay on the road, turn left at the next set of traffic lights, and turn around in the parking lot. Leave the parking lot by taking a right turn onto the street from which you just entered (Lübecker Straße). Pass the traffic lights, taking the first available right onto Werftstraße, and then onto the street at the immediate right (Konrad-Zuse-Straße).
From the direction of Berlin
From the A19 highway, take the exit Rostock-Ost, which will put you on the B105 heading towards the city center (Zentrum). After passing over the Warnow River bridge, continue straight on (Warnowufer/Am Strande) until you see a sailors' memorial and the Institute on the right. Continue straight onto Lübecker Straße. Pass the traffic lights, taking the first available right onto Konrad-Zuse-Straße).
Arrival by plane - Continuing by train/bus
From Berlin-Tegel Airport
The bus stop is located at the front of the main terminal building. Take the JetExpressBus TXL bus in the direction of Alexanderplatz. Get off the bus at Berlin’s main train station (Berlin Hauptbahnhof/Berlin Hbf). Trains to Rostock leave the station every two hours.

From Berlin-Schönefeld Airport
From the main terminal, walk five to 10 minutes or take the free airport shuttle bus to the train station S-Bahnhof Berlin-Schönefeld (follow the S-Bahn sign with a white “S” on a green background). At the S-Bahn station, take an AirportExpress train to Berlin’s main station (Berlin Hauptbahnhof/Berlin Hbf). Trains to Rostock leave the station every two hours.

From Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport
Take the S-Bahn train (follow the sign with a white “S” on a green background) to Hamburg’s main train station (Hamburg Hauptbahnhof/Hamburg Hbf).
Trains from Hamburg to Rostock leave approximately every hour.

From Rostock-Laage Airport
There is a shuttle bus (RvK) to Rostock’s main train station, or Rostock Hauptbahnhof (Rostock Hbf). The shuttle bus is a connecting service for all charter flights arriving at the airport.
Arrival by plane - Continuing by car
From Berlin-Tegel Airport
Take the A111 to the A24 interchange. Continue in the direction of Hamburg/Rostock. At the Wittstock interchange (Kreuz Wittstock), take the A19 to Rostock. From the highway take the Rostock-Ost exit.
From Berlin-Schönefeld Airport
Take the B179 in the direction of the city center (Zentrum); continue the B179 following the signs to the A100. Take the A100 to the intersection of A111; continue until you reach the A24. Take the A24 in the direction of Hamburg/Rostock. At the Wittstock interchange (Kreuz Wittstock), take the A19 to Rostock. From the highway take the Rostock-Ost exit.
From Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport
Take the B 433 until you reach the B5 interchange, then continue in the direction of Hamburg Horn. Continue on the A24 in the direction of Berlin. Follow the signs for the A1 interchange (in the direction of Lübeck/Travemünde). Continue on the A1 until you reach the Lübeck interchange (Kreuz Lübeck), then take the A20 in the direction of Rostock/Stettin. Exit the A20 at Rostock-West.
From Rostock-Laage Airport
The quickest way to Rostock is to take the A19. Go north and exit at Rostock-Ost.

From Rostock Hauptbahnhof to the Institute
From Rostock’s main train station, or Rostock Hauptbahnhof (Rostock Hbf), take tram line 4 (in the direction of Rügener Straße or Heinrich-Schütz-Straße) or 5 (in the direction of Mecklenburger Allee or Heinrich-Schütz-Straße). Get out at the Maßmannstrasse stop.
To the Borwinstraße 24 Guest House
From Rostock’s main train station, or Rostock Hauptbahnhof (Rostock Hbf), take tram line 4 (in the direction of Rügener Straße or Heinrich-Schütz-Straße) or 5 (in the direction of Mecklenburger Allee or Heinrich-Schütz-Straße). Get out at the Kabutzenhof stop. Walk straight in the direction of travel, turning left onto Am Kabutzenhof, then left onto Borwinstraße.
To the Patriotischer Weg 53 Guest House
From Rostock’s main train station, or Rostock Hauptbahnhof (Rostock Hbf), take tram line 4 (in the direction of Rügener Straße or Heinrich-Schütz-Straße) or 5 (in the direction of Mecklenburger Allee or Heinrich-Schütz-Straße). Get out at the Kabutzenhof stop. Walk straight in the direction of travel, turning right onto Am Kabutzenhof, then right onto Patriotischer Weg.
To the Hotel Sonne
From the Institute, take tram line 1 (in the direction of Hafenallee) or 5 (in the direction of Südblick). Get out at the Neuer Markt/Rathaus stop and walk a few steps in the opposite direction of travel to reach the hotel.
From Rostock’s main train station, or Rostock Hauptbahnhof (Rostock Hbf), take tram line 5 (in the direction of Mecklenburger Allee or Heinrich-Schütz-Straße). Get out at the Neuer Markt/Rathaus stop and walk in the opposite direction of travel to reach the hotel.
To the Pension Am Doberaner Platz or to the Internationales Begegnungszentrum (IBZ)
From the Institute, take tram line 1 (in the direction of Hafenallee), 4 (in the direction of Haltepunkt Dierkow), or 5 (in the direction of Südblick).
From Rostock’s main train station, or Rostock Hauptbahnhof (Rostock Hbf), take tram line 4 (in the direction of Rügener Straße or Heinrich-Schütz-Straße) or 5 (in the direction of Mecklenburger Allee or Heinrich-Schütz-Straße). Get out at the Doberaner Platz stop. You will find the pension on the right-hand side in the interior courtyard a few steps back from the stop. To get to the IBZ, cross the square, stay on the left-hand side until you reach Bergstraße, and then turn left.
To the Hotel IBIS
From Rostock’s main train station, or Rostock Hauptbahnhof (Rostock Hbf), take tram line 4 (in the direction of Rügener Straße or Heinrich-Schütz-Straße) or 5 (in the direction of Mecklenburger Allee or Heinrich-Schütz-Straße). Get out at the Volkstheater stop. Walk straight in the direction of travel, turning right onto Windmühlenweg. After crossing Patriotischer Weg, turn left onto Kehrwieder.
