Abstract

For the first time ever in Lithuania, the present study addresses problems of mortality inequalities using higher quality census-linked mortality data for 2001–2004. The results of the study confirm that a relatively high general mortality level in Lithuania coexists with very significant mortality differentials by education, marital status, and urban-rural residence.
