Assistant Managing Editor in part-time (19.5 hours/week).

We are looking for a highly organized and enthusiastic Assistant Managing Editor to join the team of the online journal Demographic Research (

Your tasks

The role involves managing article submissions through the editorial and production process, liaising with authors, reviewers, and scientific editors, and maintaining the journal’s database and its online presence. Day-to-day departmental administration will also be a significant element of the role. You will work independently and in close coordination with the managing editor.

Our expectations

The ideal candidate will have good administrative and IT skills, a near-native command of the English language, a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn how to use subject-specific software. The starting date is April 2022.

Our offer

Remuneration is according to qualification and tasks up to pay scale 9a TVöD Bund (the German Wage Agreement for the Public Sector). This also includes employees’ benefits in accordance with public sector pay.
