Do you know how many children will be born?

The new issue (Nr. 01/2012) of "Demografische Forschung Aus Erster Hand", the popular science newsletter with latest research results from demography, has been released. (The Newsletter is available in German only.)

Topics of the 01/2012 issue:

  • More and more children without parents and grandparents: AIDS orphans in Zimbabwe are suffering as the traditional family network dissolves.
  • Female Turkish immigrants in Germany are getting children later and less often: The country of immigration influences the fertility behavior of the second generation of female immigrants.
  • Do you know how many children will be born? An alternative calculation method forecasts a higher birth rate for Germany.
     

"Demografische Forschung Aus Erster Hand" is a joint publication of the  Max Planck Institute for demographic Research (MPIDR), the Rostocker Zentrum zur Erforschung des Demografischen Wandels (RZ) and the Vienna Institute of Demography (VID). The newsletter is released four times a year and is available electronically and as a printed version and is free of charge.
