Family Complexity, Gender, and the Cumulative Production of Inequality (Dissertation)
Nicole Hiekel, Stefano Arnolfo, Aart C. Liefbroer (Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute, The Hague / University of Groningen, Netherlands)
This project examines multiple-partner fertility as a structured life course process. By identifying heterogeneous family trajectories, analyzing their social stratification and gendered dynamics, and linking them to long-term economic outcomes, it demonstrates how family complexity contributes to cumulative inequality in contemporary fertility regimes.
