Detailed Description
The research arm "Future" develops and tests a framework for fertility decision-making and fertility outcomes that is rooted in decision-making under conditions of uncertainty, information, and fecundity. We examine how sociodemographic circumstances, economic and environmental uncertainty, psychological factors, and biological fecundity jointly shape childbearing aspirations, decisions, and outcomes among individuals and couples. A key component of this research arm is the progressive data collection effort that follows cohorts of teenagers and young adults longitudinally, monitoring both the social and the biological aspects of their reproductive lives, and testing how fecundity-related information may influence their behavior. This research arm also situates fertility decision-making within broader reproductive life course contexts, including later-life reproductive health and inequalities in access to reproductive health information and care.
