Assessing Mortality Deceleration

Marie Böhnstedt, Jutta Gampe; in Collaboration with Nadine Ouellette (University of Montreal, Canada), Gerda Claeskens (University of Leuven, Belgium), Hein Putter (Leiden University, Medical Center, Netherlands)

The deceleration of death rates at high ages due to selection in heterogeneous cohorts is well established, but it has been repeatedly contested empirically because standard techniques tend to favor models without deceleration. This project evaluates alternative statistical strategies to assess mortality deceleration.  Detailed Description
