The library staff can provide researchers, visiting scholars and MPIDR students with access to a wide range of print and online resources. These resources include catalogs, portals, full-text and reference databases, e-books, and over 65,000 electronic journals. The library currently has 19,100 monographs and series in print, 8100 contributions to grey literature and over 22,000 journal articles covering all aspects of demographic research, of which more than 18,200 are available in an electronically accessible format. The library also has over 200 rare books, including first editions dating from the very beginnings of demography in the 17th and 18th centuries.

The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock is one of the leading demographic research centers in the world. It's part of the Max Planck Society, the internationally renowned German research society.
