Happy Birthday!

On April 17th 2014, former MPIDR-Director Jan M. Hoem turns 75. The MPIDR staff and the director of the MPDIR wish him a happy birthday.

"Jan has pioneered the analysis of data on hazards and survival. We wish him minimal health hazards and long survival!", says MPIDR director Jim W. Vaupel.

Jan M. Hoem was Director of the MPIDR and Head of the Laboratory “Contemporary European Fertility and Family Dynamics” from 1999 until his retirement in 2007, when he was conferred emeritus status. Previous to his position in Rostock he was Professor of Demometry at the University of Stockholm. His research focused on methods of event-history analysis and the impact of welfare policy on fertility. He continues to be engaged in research activities as Professor Emeritus at the University of Stockholm.
