Max Planck-Humboldt Research Units in Africa

The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) is highly interested in developing partnerships with African scholars and institutions whose research is related to population studies. Therefore, we support the call for proposals for three Max Planck-Humboldt Research Units in Subsahara-Africa by the Max Planck Society and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

“Three Research Group Leaders (one person per Section) at research facilities in Subsahara-Africa will be provided with research funding from the Max Planck Society amounting to 150,000 euros per year for five years. This will enable them to collaborate scientifically with a Max Planck Institute of their choice and jointly train young specialists.

In addition, one young talent from each research unit is to come to the collaborating MPI as a postdoc with a Humboldt Research Fellowship of up to two years, funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.”

The application period for the Research Units runs until October 15, 2023.
