Transfer of the Executive Directorship of the MPIDR

As of May 1, Prof. Dr. James W. Vaupel will take over as Executive Director of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. This transfer from Prof. Jan M. Hoem to Jim Vaupel has been initiated by agreement between the two directors and has been accepted by the President of the Max Planck Society. It will permit Jan Hoem to pay more attention to his research activities during the three years that remain of his tenure as a Director at our Institute. No radical change is foreseen in the way the Institute operates. Both directors enjoy the good spirit in which the activities of our Institute are conducted and trust that this spirit will be maintained in the years to come.
