Abstract

It is common in medical statistics and in demography to use data aggregated in 5-year or 10-year age groups. More detailed information by 1-year age groups are needed for precise estimations and projections. We describe two approaches for grouped data splitting. One uses a constrained quadratic optimization technique and the other builds an artificial neural net.
