Abstract

The International Database on Longevity contains exhaustive information on validated cases of supercentenarians that allows unbiased estimates of mortality after age 110. This chapter describes the structure and contents of the database, including the different categories of age-validation procedures.
The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock is one of the leading demographic research centers in the world. It's part of the Max Planck Society, the internationally renowned German research society.
