Annette Baudisch appointed Professor at University of Southern Denmark

MPIDR researcher Annette Baudisch has been appointed professor at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense. She took up her new position on August 18. At the Max-Planck Odense Centre on the Biodemography of Aging, located on the Campus of the University, she will continue her research on evolutionary biodemography.

Annette Baudisch studied mathematics and economics. She wrote her PhD at the MPIDR and at the University College London. Following research stays abroad in the USA (Duke University, DC) and in France (Centre de recherches interdisciplinaires, Paris), she started  the Max Planck Research Group Modeling the Evolution of Aging in 2009, which she has been heading since. Many of her articles were published in renowned scientific journals. In 2008, she published her first book, “Inevitable Aging? Contributions to evolutionary-demographic theory”.

The Max-Planck Odense Center on the Biodemography of Aging was founded by the Max Planck Society jointly with the University of Southern Denmark (Syddansk Universitet). The center commenced its work in January 2013 and will investigate the causes and consequences of age-related changes in health, as well as rising life expectancy. The center is headed by James W. Vaupel, director of the MPIDR.
