Nandita Saikia has won the Prof K. B Pathak Award from the Indian Association for the Study of Population (IASP) for the year 2011.
The award was given for a joint article published by Nandita Saikia (Population Research Centre at the Institute of Economic Growth, University of Delhi), the MPIDR-Researchers Domantas Jasilionis and Vladimir M. Shkolinkov, and Faujdar Ram (International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai) published in the journal “Population Studies”.
The study was accomplished during Nandita Saikia’s stay as a guest researcher at the Laboratory of Demographic Data of the MPIDR in 2009 and 2010. Nandita Saikia was also a student at the International Max Planck Research School for Demography in Rostock (IMPRSD) during the winter semesters 2008-2009 and 2010-2011.
The Prof K. B Pathak Award is given to individual researcher for contributions in methodological innovation. The annual prize is awarded to the best article published in a peer reviewed journal in the field of population and health in the past two years. The author of the article must be below 40 years of age.
