The administrative team at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) is pleased to welcome Susanne Draheim.
Susanne will support the administration as a clerk for purchasing and construction.
What is your role at the MPIDR?
I work in the administration in purchasing and support the institute with everything it needs to work, learn and teach.
Why did you choose MPIDR as your new employer?
It is a great opportunity for me and, above all, I am new to the public service. I chose the institute because I find it enriching to work with so many different people. Even though I am not a scientist, I am very interested in demographic change.
Where are you from? What do you like most about Rostock (and maybe: what do you not like at all)?
I was born in Rostock, lived abroad for a while and was away from Rostock for a long time. I was always homesick and now I want to stay here because it's just nice to be home.
The air is great here and some days there is a special clear light. We have a great environment with the sea and, at the moment, beautiful forests. Rostock has developed very positively in recent years and there are more and more interesting things to do. Sometimes I wish the people in Rostock were a bit friendlier.😊
What do you like most and least about your job?
I love the fact that I have contact with all areas of the institute and therefore with everyone. There's always something new to learn. But now it's important for me to settle in. It will probably take some time to understand the whole Max Planck Society and its processes.
