The first Annual Academy of the new doctoral program IMPRS-PHDS was held at the MPIDR at the beginning of November. 22 doctoral students form the first cohort of the program.

For the first time all 22 students of the new doctoral program IMPRS-PHDS and their supervisors met at the Annual Academy at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock. During the three days Academy they participated in various program components, e.g. faculty research presentations and instructions. The students also presented their dissertation research to get feedback from their peers and faculty. During lunch and coffee breaks, spent together at the lovely cafeteria with waterfront view, there was time for collegial exchange between faculty and students, too.

The International Max Planck Research School for Population, Health and Data Science (IMPRS-PHDS) is a new and unique three-year doctoral program that merges demography, epidemiology and data science.

It is hosted at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR). Founded in 2019, the school receives core support from the Max Planck Society, MPIDR, University of Rostock, and ten affiliated institutions.
