Project

Evaluating Immigrants’ Cultural Assimilation by Using Digital Trace Data

Jisu Kim, André Grow-Böser, Asli Ebru Sanlitürk, Emilio Zagheni; in Collaboration with René Flores D. (University of Chicago, USA), Kiran Garimella (School of Communication and Information at Rutgers, USA), Ingmar Weber (Saarland, Germany), Ilana Ventura (University of Chicago)

The cultural assimilation of immigrants is poorly understood, partially because suitable data and indicators are lacking. This project sheds new light on patterns of cultural assimilation, using digital traces and an intergenerational survey with respondents selectively recruited via Facebook advertisements.  Detailed Description
