Research Arm "Future"

The research arm "Future" develops and tests a framework for fertility decision-making and fertility outcomes that is rooted in decision-making under uncertainty, information, and fecundity. We examine the joint role of sociodemographic circumstances and fecundity in shaping childbearing aspirations and outcomes. We look at the joint role of sociodemographic circumstances and biological fecundity in shaping childbearing decisions and outcomes in individuals and couples. The key component of this research arm is the progressive data collection effort that follows longitudinally cohorts of teenagers and young adults over time, monitoring both the social and biological aspects of their reproductive life, and that tests the importance of fecundity information on behavior.
