Enrique Acosta is a demographer, a Ramón y Cajal Fellow Research Scientist at the Centre d'Estudis Demogràfics (CED) in Barcelona, Spain, and a Guest Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock, Germany. He specializes in analyzing mortality trends, epidemic and pandemic mortality, cohort and generational influences on mortality, and the drivers of behaviourally-driven causes of death. Methodologically, he has developed new techniques to study Age, Period, and Cohort (APC) effects on mortality; and he is an expert in measuring excess mortality. Enrique has been a member of the Technical Advisory Group of the UN Inter-agency Group for Child Mortality Estimation (IGME-TAG) since March 2023.
