MPIDR Researchers introduced a brand-new migration database at the Annual Meeting of the Population Association of America (PAA) in New Orleans with support of the IUSSP panel on digital and computational demography. They celebrated the inauguration with eight invited lightning talks by researchers who have already successfully used the new database for studies published in journals such as PNAS, epj Data Science, and Scientometrics. more

Bettina Hünteler has submitted her doctoral thesis in social sciences at the University of Cologne and is particularly interested in intergenerational relationships, the life course and social inequality. At the MPIDR, she plans to spend the next three years researching the interconnectedness between family networks and various indicators of social inequality. In her free time, she enjoys climbing and traveling. more

Shubhankar Sharma successfully passed his viva on March, 30th at the University of St. Andrews. His thesis makes substantive and methodological contributions to the study of how socio-political inequities create and perpetuate disparities in later-life cognitive function. more
